This was the first completely dry 24 hr period since 27 September, however it by no means made it a favourable day. The doom, gloom and perpetual greyness meant that it was, in fact, completely the opposite and one of the most miserable days in recent times.
There was one piece of interest though: the temperature span between minimum and maximum was less than 1 deg C for the first time in my records. Furthermore, had the figures concerned been rounded up or down, they would have both been rounded to exactly the same temperature!

July 2010 Summary

Temperature [Minimum]:
Night time temperatures for July 2010 ranged from a low of 11.5 degs C on the night of the 5th/6th, to 18.0 degs on the night of the 9th/10th.
11.5 degs is the highest level at which the temperature has not fallen below, in any previous July since at least 2004.
The average night time temperature for the month was 14.71 degs C, which was the highest since September 2006, and the equal 3rd highest ever recorded here.

Temperature [Maximum]:
Daytime temperatures ranged from 19.8 degs C on the 1st, to 25.3 degs C on the 4th. The average daytime temperature for the month was 22.98 degs C, making it the hottest month since July 2006 and the second hottest ever [since at least 2004].
The temperature exceeded 20 degs C on all but one day [1st] - this is only the second highest number of days this has happened [since 2004] - in 2006 all 31 days exceeded 20 degs C. Despite this however, the temperature exceeded 25 degs C only once [4th], compared to 10 times in July 2006 and 8 in July 2005. This implied that although July 2010 was very warm on average, hot days were rare and maxima were unusually equable.

Rainfall:
75.1 mm of rain fell during the month, making it the wettest month since March 2010 when 90.8 mm fell. However it was easily the driest July since records for rainfall began here in 2008 [July 2008 = 166.7 mm, July 2009 = 216.8 mm].
The wettest individual day was the 1st with 20.1 mm, making it the wettest day since 16th January 2010.
Throughout the month of July 2010 measurable rain fell on 16 days but there were only 6 completely dry days, which is the least since December 2009, and only one more than July 2009 when almost 3 times as much rain fell in total.
The longest dry spell was only two days [25th/26th] - all of which illustrates how the rain in July 2010 fell often, but not much at a time.

April 2010 Summary

Temperature [Min]:
Night time temperatures in April ranged from 2.1 degs C on the night of March 31/April 1, to 12.2 degs C on the night of the 28th/29th.
The average was 6.76, which is the coldest ever for April so far recorded here - ie since 2003. The previous coldest April night time average was 6.9 degs in 2008.
This means that every month since December 2009, with the exception of February, has now had the coldest ever night time average - February was the 2nd coldest ever.
This April, the temperature fell below 5 degs C on at least 8 nights, which is also the most ever.

Temperature [Max]:
Day time temperatures in April ranged from 11.6 degs C on the 3rd, to 21.5 degs C on the 28th. This was actually the highest April temperature ever recorded here, beating the previous record of 20.6 set in 2007 on the 22nd.
The average was 14.83, which turned out to be the 2nd lowest ever, so that all time day high was not typical of the month. Indeed, 14.83 was Almost the lowest ever average, only just escaping that accolade as previously 2005 saw an average of 14.81!
Furthermore, the maximum for the 29th - the day After the 21.5, was just 14.7 degs, giving a drop of 6.8 degs C in one day - again almost a record - that is set at 7.0 degs in March 2006.
This April, the temperature climbed above 20 degs C twice - the most ever.

Rain:
A total of 34.3 mm of rain fell in April 2010, making it the driest month since September 2009, when 31.6 fell. This compares to March with 90.8 mm.
The wettest single day was the 3rd, with 10.5 mm, which itself is the lowest amount of rain to fall as a month's wettest day since June 2009 [7.5 mm being the wettest day then].
There were 21 completely dry days, the equal highest since September 2009. Measurable rain only fell on 7 days this April, among them the 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the 29th and 30th - thus giving a 25 day spell with just 2 days of measurable rain.

February 2010 Summary

Temperature [Min]:
Night time temperatures this month ranged from a low of -1.3 degrees on the night of the 10th/11th, to a max of 9.3 degs on the night of the 3rd/4th. This, and the previous night, were part of a brief milder spell compared with the rest of the month. The only other time the minimum reached more than 6.2 degs was on the 24th [7.1].
The average night time temp for the month was 3.94 degs, making it the coldest February since 2005 [3.62]. It was less cold than January 2010 however [2.73].
Temps fell below 5 degs C on 16 nights, 2 more than February 09, but far fewer than January 2010 [23].
There were 2 nights with temps below zero, the same as February 09, a lot fewer than in January 2010, when there were 9.

Temperature [Max]:
Daytime temps ranged from a minimum of 5.2 on the 11th to 13.4 on the 24th. The first week produced reasonable maximum temperatures of around 11 or 12 degs, however the second week was much colder, recovering slightly for the 3rd week, before returning to the milder highs for the final week.
This all led to an average daytime temp for the month of 10.18 degs, the coldest February since 2006 [9.67]. It was, maybe surprisingly, colder than February 2009 with its snow event [10.95]. February 2010 was significantly milder than January though [8.33].

Overall February 2010 was rather an uneventful month - not the coldest or the mildest, by night or by day.

Rain:
77.7 mm of rain fell during the month, making it the driest month since September 2009. This was similar to February 09 [80.8 mm].
The 4th was the wettest single day with 14.3 mm.
There was a completely dry spell from the 6th to the 14th, however some rain then fell every day until the 27th.

Today was a perfect example of how convective cloud forms over the spine of Cornwall on a fine day. Normally when this happens it forms over the A30 Trunk Road - however it was further south today - probably caused by the sea breeze from the north coast being stronger than the one from the south.

January 2010 Summary

Temperature [Min]:
Night time temperatures ranged from -3.0 degs C on the night of the 6th/7th to 9.1 degs C on that of the 21st/22nd. The average night time temp for the month was 2.73 degs C, which is almost 5 degrees lower than the recent mild Januarys of 2007 and 08.
Surprisingly perhaps, the all time lowest minimum for this location was not exceeded [-4.6 in January 09], but what was remarkable about January 2010 was the number of nights of extremely low temperatures. There were 23 nights where the temperature fell below 5 degs C, compared with the next most of 15 in January 2006 and 14 in 2009. Furthermore there were 9 nights when the temp fell below zero - compared with just 3 in January 2009 and 1 in 2004.
Between the 1st and the 10th, night time temps were always below 1.4 degs C, climbing to within the range 1.9 to 4.8 between the 11th and 15th. More normal temperatures existed between the 16th and 22nd, but nights returned to generally colder than normal after that.

Temperature [Max]:
Daytime temps for the month of January 2010 ranged from just 2.8 degs C on the 9th - the coldest ever recorded at this location - to a mild 14.3 degs on the 16th. The average was 8.33 degs C, which is the lowest ever for January, and down about 4 degs on the average for January 2008.

Rain:
116.9 mm of rain/snow was recorded for the month, compared to 144 in December 09, and 150.7 in January 2009, making the month comparatively dry. There were never, however, more than two consecutive totally dry days. Almost half of the total rainfall fell on two days - 25.1 mm on the 16th [the wettest day], and 21.8 mm on the 12th.
On the morning of the 7th, a narrow band of snow showers gave a fair covering in the area, which lead to dangerous road and pavement conditions, with the resultant ice remaining for the next 5 days.
