August 2010 contained the coldest and warmest ever August nights at this location [since 2003 or before].
The lowest reading of 8.9 degs C, on the night of the 30th/31st, was also the coldest night since 27th May. The highest, 18.2 degs C, on the night of the 20th/21st, was also the warmest night of any month since 30 June/1st July, 2009.
The average night-time temperature for August 2010 was 13.88, the lowest August figure since 2007.

Temperature [Maximum]:
The lowest maximum ranged from 18.3 degs C on the 27th, [which was the coolest day since 12th June], to 24.7 degs C on the 15th, giving an average for the month of 21.23.
This makes this August the second coolest since 2003 or before, with only 2008 being cooler.
Although the temperature exceeded 20 degs C on 23 days this August, it was the fewest number of occasions since 2003 or before. Furthermore, maxima never exceeded 20 degs after the 24th.
August 2010 was also the 4th consecutive August that the temperature never exceeded 25 degs C at all.

Rainfall:
98.7 mm of rain fell during the month - making it the wettest month since January 2010 with it's 116.9 mm. Almost half August's total [45.9 mm] however, fell on one day [25th], which was the wettest day of any month since 9th July 2008!
When comparing rainfall this month with recent Augusts though, 2010 does not appear a particularly wet one - In 2009, 74.2 mm fell, and in August 2008 - 132.6!
There were also more dry days than in the last two Augusts. These came in two separate periods - the 11th to the 16th, and after the 26th, when no measurable rain was recorded.
