July 2010 Summary

Temperature [Minimum]:
Night time temperatures for July 2010 ranged from a low of 11.5 degs C on the night of the 5th/6th, to 18.0 degs on the night of the 9th/10th.
11.5 degs is the highest level at which the temperature has not fallen below, in any previous July since at least 2004.
The average night time temperature for the month was 14.71 degs C, which was the highest since September 2006, and the equal 3rd highest ever recorded here.

Temperature [Maximum]:
Daytime temperatures ranged from 19.8 degs C on the 1st, to 25.3 degs C on the 4th. The average daytime temperature for the month was 22.98 degs C, making it the hottest month since July 2006 and the second hottest ever [since at least 2004].
The temperature exceeded 20 degs C on all but one day [1st] - this is only the second highest number of days this has happened [since 2004] - in 2006 all 31 days exceeded 20 degs C. Despite this however, the temperature exceeded 25 degs C only once [4th], compared to 10 times in July 2006 and 8 in July 2005. This implied that although July 2010 was very warm on average, hot days were rare and maxima were unusually equable.

Rainfall:
75.1 mm of rain fell during the month, making it the wettest month since March 2010 when 90.8 mm fell. However it was easily the driest July since records for rainfall began here in 2008 [July 2008 = 166.7 mm, July 2009 = 216.8 mm].
The wettest individual day was the 1st with 20.1 mm, making it the wettest day since 16th January 2010.
Throughout the month of July 2010 measurable rain fell on 16 days but there were only 6 completely dry days, which is the least since December 2009, and only one more than July 2009 when almost 3 times as much rain fell in total.
The longest dry spell was only two days [25th/26th] - all of which illustrates how the rain in July 2010 fell often, but not much at a time.
