April 2010 Summary

Temperature [Min]:
Night time temperatures in April ranged from 2.1 degs C on the night of March 31/April 1, to 12.2 degs C on the night of the 28th/29th.
The average was 6.76, which is the coldest ever for April so far recorded here - ie since 2003. The previous coldest April night time average was 6.9 degs in 2008.
This means that every month since December 2009, with the exception of February, has now had the coldest ever night time average - February was the 2nd coldest ever.
This April, the temperature fell below 5 degs C on at least 8 nights, which is also the most ever.

Temperature [Max]:
Day time temperatures in April ranged from 11.6 degs C on the 3rd, to 21.5 degs C on the 28th. This was actually the highest April temperature ever recorded here, beating the previous record of 20.6 set in 2007 on the 22nd.
The average was 14.83, which turned out to be the 2nd lowest ever, so that all time day high was not typical of the month. Indeed, 14.83 was Almost the lowest ever average, only just escaping that accolade as previously 2005 saw an average of 14.81!
Furthermore, the maximum for the 29th - the day After the 21.5, was just 14.7 degs, giving a drop of 6.8 degs C in one day - again almost a record - that is set at 7.0 degs in March 2006.
This April, the temperature climbed above 20 degs C twice - the most ever.

Rain:
A total of 34.3 mm of rain fell in April 2010, making it the driest month since September 2009, when 31.6 fell. This compares to March with 90.8 mm.
The wettest single day was the 3rd, with 10.5 mm, which itself is the lowest amount of rain to fall as a month's wettest day since June 2009 [7.5 mm being the wettest day then].
There were 21 completely dry days, the equal highest since September 2009. Measurable rain only fell on 7 days this April, among them the 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the 29th and 30th - thus giving a 25 day spell with just 2 days of measurable rain.
