During the later part of 2013 minimum temperature readings at this site were often unusually high. Indeed records were broken several times between August and October. Therefore, early in 2014, a new, more reliable thermometer, also in a new position, came into service. [See "A Few Changes" - 9 March 2014].
It is worth mentioning that during the current warm spell, the "unreliable" thermometer is recording even higher figures than it did during August to October 2013.
