June 2014 Summary

In Brief:
Unsettled for the first ten days, then dry, fairly warm and very sunny for the following two weeks.  A showery few days at the end of the month.

Temperature: [Minimum]:
The lowest temperature of the month was 6.9 degs C on the night of the 4th/5th. This was the lowest June temperature since 2009.  The warmest night of June 2014 was that of the 25th/26th, with 15.0 degs C.  There has been a warmer night than this during every June since 2004.
The average night-time temperature for the month was 11.89 degs C, the lowest for June since 2008.

Temperature: [Maximum]:
The coolest day of June 2014 was the 2nd, with 17.4 degs C.  There have been cooler June days than this every year since 2009.   The warmest day of June 2014 was the 24th, with 25.0 degs C.  This was the highest June temperature since 2010.
The average daytime maximum for June 2014 was 21.74 degs C, also the highest June max since 2010 [21.78], and the third highest since 2004.  June 2006 was the highest [21.99].
The temperature exceeded 20 degs C on 24 days of June 2014, the most since 2006 when it did so 26 times.
Although the temperature reached 25 degs C in June 2014, it did not exceed it, so 2010 still stands as the last June in which the temperature did exceed 25 degs C.

Rainfall:
44.1 mm of rain fell during June 2014, making it the driest June since 2010, and the driest of any month since July 2013 [36.2 mm].   This follows 80.1 mm in May 2014, and compares with 81.7 mm in June 2013.
The wettest day of June 2014 was the 27th with 11.4 mm.  Of the last seven Junes, only 2009 had a lower amount for it's wettest day [7.5 mm].  11.4 mm is also the lowest wettest day figure since April 2013.
Only 2 other days had more than 6 mm of rain in June 2014, 4th [8.4mm] and 28th [8.7 mm].

There were 18 completely dry days in June 2014, and 20 with no measurable rain.  Both of these figures are the highest for June since 2010, and the most of any month since July 2013.
It was completely dry from the 11th to the 25th.
