July 2016 Summary

In Brief:
Cooler than average by day, though warm and sunny 3rd week.   Little rain.

Temperature [Minimum]:
The coolest night of July 2016 was the 6th with a minimum of 9.4 dges C.  The temperature has fallen below this during every month since September 2013.
The warmest night of July 2016 was the 19th with a minimum of 18.0 degs C.  This was the highest minimum of any month since summer 2013.
The average minimum temperature for July 2016 was 14.03 degs C, which is the 7th warmest, and 7th coolest, of the last 13 Julys, and the highest for any month since July 2014.

Temperature [Maximum]:
The coolest days of July 2016 were the 1st and 13th, with a maximum of 18.2 degs C.  There has been a cooler day than this during every month since September 2014.
The warmest day of July 2016 was the 17th with a maximum of 26.2 degs C.  This was the highest temperature recorded at this location since July 2014.
The average maximum temperature for July 2016 was 20.76 degs C.  Although this makes it the equal second coolest July [with 2011] of the last 13, it was the warmest of any month since September 2014.
The temperature exceeded 20 degs C on 18 days, which is the fewest number of times in July since at least 2003.
It did exceed 25 degs C on one day, which is the first time in any month since August 2014.

Rainfall:
24.9 mm of rain fell during July 2016, which compares with 61.9 mm in June, and 105.2 mm in July 2015.
It was the driest July since at least 2007, and the driest of any month since April 2015.
The wettest day was the 3rd, with 6.0 mm of rain.
Despite the low rainfall total for the month, there were only 10 completely dry days, and 14 with no measurable rain.  Up to 1.0 mm of rain fell on 14 different days!
The longest completely dry spell was the 14th to 18th, although only 1.5 mm fell from the 12th to the 23rd.

Cumulatively 731.3 mm of rain has fallen during the period January to July 2016.  This compares with 607.7 mm during the same period in 2015  [+20.34%].  This has come down from +40.58% to the end of June.
