July 2015 Summary

In Brief:
A mostly cool month with no prolonged dry spells.

Temperature: [Minimum]:
The coldest night of the month was that of the 30th/31st when the temperature fell to 7.5 degs C.  This was the coldest July temperature ever recorded at this location*, so exceeding 8.3 degs C recorded in 2011.
The highest minimum for the month was 16.7 degs C, recorded on the night of the 3rd/4th.
This led to the average night-time temperature for the month being 13.48 degs C, the lowest for July since 2011, and the third lowest since at least 2003.

Temperature: [Maximum]:
The coolest day of the month was the 24th with a maximum of 15.5 degs C. This was the second coldest July day at this location*, with July 20th, 2011 being the coldest with 15.1 degs C.
The highest temperature of July 2015 was 23.5 degs C, recorded on the 19th, which, equal with 2007 and 2011, is the lowest July maximum since at least 2003.
The average maximum temperature for July 2015 was 20.28 degs C, the lowest ever for July at this location.*
The temperature exceeded 20 degs C on 19 days, the fewest number of times for July ever at this location.*
It is the first July since 2011 that the temperature did not exceed 25 degs C.

Rainfall:
105.2 mm of rain fell during July 2015, making it the wettest month since February 2015, and the wettest July since 2009.
This figure compares to 49.2 mm in June 2015 and 32.6 mm in July 2014.
The wettest day of July 2015 was the 24th with 40.0 mm [more rain than fell during the whole of July 2014].   This was the wettest day of any month since March 21st, 2013, and the wettest July day since 2009.
A further 31.4 mm of rain fell on the 26th, however these were the only two days with more than 10 mm of rain.  Despite this, the longest completely dry spells of the month were just three days, from 8th to 10th, and 29th to 31st.   On the plus side, the 15th to 23rd saw only 4 mm of rain, and the 27th to 31st only 0.1 mm.

Cumulatively 607.7 mm of rain has fallen during the period January to July 2015.  This compares with 782.6 mm during the same period in 2014 [-22.35%].
