June 2012 Summary

In Brief:
Wet, with mild nights and cool days.

Temperature [Minimum]:
The coolest night of June 2012 was that of the 18th/19th with 9.9 degs C. The minimum temperature for June has only been higher than this once in the last 9 Junes.  The night of the 27th/28th was the warmest night of the month with 16.5 degs C.  This was the equal second warmest June night since at least 2004, and was only exceeded in 2010.
The average night-time temperature for June 2012 was 13.15 degs C, which is the equal highest [with 2007] of the last nine.

Temperature [Maximum]:
The coldest day of the month was the 14th with a temperature of just 14.9 degs C. This was the third coldest June day since at least 2004.  It was only slightly less cold than the coldest ever June day*, which was 14.7 in 2009.
The warmest day of the month was the 1st with 23.5 degs C, and even this was the lowest maximum for June at this location.*
These facts led to the average daytime temperature for the month being 19.21 degs C, which was also the lowest of the last nine Junes.
The temperature exceeded 20 degs C on at least 12 days. This is the second lowest June total since 2004, but higher than the 9 days in 2011.

Rainfall:
129.4 mm of rain fell during the month, making it the wettest June of the last five. April 2012 was wetter still however, with 188.4 mm, but April saw more than twice as many completely dry 24 hour periods than June, which only had 4. This was the same number as January 2012, and the fewest of the last 5 Junes.
So although June only had around 70% of the rain April did, it was spread out more over the month, making it more often wet.
The wettest day itself was the 20th with 19 mm.

Wind:
Unseasonally strong winds occurred on the 7th as a deep depression moved across the area.

*Since at least 2004.
