March 2012 Summary

In Brief:
A very dry and mild month, but not always that sunny. There were 5 consecutive sunless days between the 12th and the 16th of the month.

Temperature [Minimum]:
In each of the last 9 Marches the temperature has fallen as low as 1.1 degs C, but this year night-time temperatures did not go below 4.1 degs C, which occurred on the nights of the 5th/6th and 17th/18th. The mildest night was that of the 17th/18th at 10.2 degs C, giving an average of 7.98 degs C, the highest ever at this location* and well beating the 6.34 recorded in 2009 into second place.
This March saw the temperature fall below 5 degs C only 3 times. This easily beats the previous lowest number of March nights this happened of 9.

Temperature [Maximum]:
The coldest day this March was the 4th when 9.9 degs C was the maximum temperature. This was the highest ever 'coldest March day' at this location*, beating 9.3 recorded in 2009 into second place.
The warmest day of March 2012 was the 29th with 19.1 degs C, which made it the warmest ever March day at this location* and exceeding the previous highest by 2 degs C as 17.1 was recorded in March 2011.
Although this March saw the highest daytime minimum and maximum*, the average daytime temperature of 13.17 degs C was only the second highest of the last 9, with 13.64 being the highest in 2007.
