May 2010 Summary

Temperature [Night]: Night time temperatures in May 2010 ranged from 4 degs C on the night of 11th/12th to 14 degs C on the night of 21st/22nd.
4 degs C is the equal lowest ever May night time temperature [with May 18th, 2005] since my records began here in 2004, however 14 degs C is the highest ever May night time temperature since those records began.
Average minimum temperatures in May 2010 were 9.2, making it the second coldest May for nights - after 2005.
The temperature fell below 5 degs C on two nights this May. This has only happened in May on three other occasions - all in 2005.

Temperature [Day]: Maximum temperatures for May 2010 ranged from 13 degs C on 13th, to 23.4 degs C on 24th. This is the second highest ever May temperature recorded here since at least 2004, the highest ever being 23.9 on the same date in 2007.
The average maximum for 2010 was 17.43 degs C, which made it, along with nights, the second coldest May for daytime temperatures - after 2005.
The temperature rose above 20 degs C on six days.

Rain: 20.2 mm of rain fell during May 2010, making it the driest month since June 2009 with 16.1 mm, and the driest May so far recorded [since 2008].
The wettest day was the 29th, with just 4 mm, that being the lowest ever total for the wettest day of any month!
Although it was a very dry month, the only notable dry spell lasting more than three days was from the 20th to the 28th, with no measurable rain falling during that time.
