Temperature [Max]: Unusually, the highest and lowest temperature readings for November 2009 were recorded just when they maybe expected - the warmest was the 1st [16.3 degs C] and the coldest was the 30th [9.1] - It doesn't often happen that way! The average daytime temperature was 13.64 degs, which itself is around average for the last seven Novembers.
Temperature [Min]: The highest night time temperature was on the night of October 31st/November 1st [13.4 degs] while the coldest was on the night of the 8th/9th [4 degs].
8.95 was the average, making the night time temperatures this November the highest since at least 2002. The temperature only dipped below 5 degs on two nights, the fewest since the same date.
With both day and night temperatures, the maxima recorded on the 1st of the month were effectively the last day of the mild spell that began back in October. The 2nd of November saw a 5.1 degree drop on the night figure and a 2.8 degree drop on the day.
Rainfall: 223.9 mm of rain fell in November 2009, making it the wettest month I have ever recorded, pushing this July's figure of 216.8 into 2nd place. November 2008 saw a mere 85.6 mm. Strangely the wettest day itself [28th] had a relatively low total of 20.1 mm. It was the actual number of wet days - there were only 2 completely dry days - that added up to make this November's rainfall so remarkable.
