It was the wettest day since 9 July 2008, and the coldest day since 8 June 2009.
Although 18.1 was reached at some point, most of the day it stayed around 15 degs.
Places in Cornwall boasted the day's coldest and wettest in the whole of the UK.

Thunderstorms overnight and at first on Thursday, then overcast and misty with showers for the rest of the morning. Dry afternoon and evening with low cloud lifting later.

Approximately 15 mm of the total rain fell in a torrential downpour between 830 and 9 am! Thursday was the wettest day since 25th April.

June 2009 Summary

Temperature [Max]: The average maximum temperature for June 2009 was 21.04 degs, which is more or less average for recent Junes despite the heatwave of the last few days. The 8th of the month actually saw the coldest ever recorded June day at this location, 14.7 degs, and the highest maximum [25.0 degs] was infact recorded on the 3rd - again despite the recent heatwave.

Temperature [Min]: The average minimum temperature for this June was 12.45 degs, making it the second coldest since 2004. As with maxima, this was perhaps surprising due to the recent heatwave, but then the month also had the coldest ever June Night at this location, that of the 6th/7th, where the temperature fell to just 6.4 degs - not far off a ground frost!
The highest night time minimum of 15.9 degs [on the 29th/30th] was the highest June minimum since 2005.

Rain: Rainfall figures have only been measured here for 15 months, however June 2009 was the driest month so far with just 16.1 mm of measurable rain, falling on just 3 days - the wettest of which was the 17th, [7.5mm]. There were 23 completely dry days.
June 2008 had 36mm of rain in total - the 2nd driest month recorded so far.

Tuesday night's minimum was the highest since the night of September 4/5th, 2006, and Wednesday's maximum was the highest since September 6th 2006!
The 4.9mm of rain which fell on Wednesday did so between 2230 and Midnight, however this is not as high a rate of rainfall as will be seen for Thursday!
